Our Vision…

Windspun envisions the publishing work flow of the future will be XML-based, promising substantial simplification for authoring, distribution, and archiving. It will also lead to a richer, more powerful, and a much-improved epublication reading experience for the end-user in conjunction with greatly improved ebook-capable devices now on the horizon.

Thus, Windspun’s goal is to develop cutting-edge XML-based products and services which will enhance the publishing work flow and which will take full advantage of these new and exciting ebook-capable devices, providing the very best reading experience for the end-user.

We will strive to use, wherever possible, only open specifications, such as the various XML technologies developed by W3C (including the specialized vocabularies of MathML and SVG), the Open eBook Publication Structure (OEBPS) developed by OeBF, and various generalized publishing vocabularies, such as TEI, DocBook and UniBook (UniBook is intended to be an open standards general ebook vocabulary now under conceptual development by Windspun.) This assures that the products and services we develop will be in lock step with the evolving ebook and publishing industries.
